Abstract

In a pot experiment, lettuce growth was influenced more by Ca applications than by slag, whereas sorghum growth was better with slag. DCP generally gave higher yields than MCP in both crops. The interaction of slag and P was marked in sorghum; the interaction of Ca and P was greater in lettuce. P and Ca increased the incidence of a leaf-spot disease of sorghum caused by Monochaetia sp. The presence of slag reduced the incidence; this was attributed to the effect of Si
