Abstract

In field trials in the wet seasons of 1970, '71 and '72 at 3 locations, 3 hand-weedings increased grain yield or sorghum cv. CSM 1 by 63% over the unweeded control. Mechanical inter-row cultivation increased yield by 48%. Atrazine, propazine or Herban [noruron] alone gave low yields, but 0.25 or 0.5 kg atrazine a.i. or 0.5 kg propazine a.i./ha together with one weeding gave yields comparable with hand-weeding
