Abstract

In trials with sorghum given 1-3 hand-weedings and/or 0.5-1 kg atrazine, 0.5-1 kg propazine, 2 kg MSMA and 2 l paraquat/ha alone or in mixtures, pre-emergence application of 0.5 kg atrazine or propazine/ha combined with 1 hand-weeding at 5 weeks after sowing was the most effective against weeds and gave the highest grain yields which were similar to those obtained with 3 hand-weedings; both treatments gave the highest net profit
