Abstract
In trials in 1967-9 under rain-fed conditions with sorghum hybrid CSH-1 given 112 kg N + 67 kg P2O5 + 45 kg K2O + 14 kg thimet [phorate]/ha and foliar applications of endrin at 15-day intervals to control pests, average grain yields decreased progressively from 3.71 to 0.38 t/ha with delay in sowing over the period from the 3rd week of June to the 3rd week of Sept. Average number of plants with dead growing points as a result of shoot fly [Atherigona varia soccata] incidence were 4.2, 104-192 and 39-77 with sowings in June, between July and early Aug. and between late Aug. and late Sept., respectively
