Abstract

In irrigated trials, 6 sorghum cultivars were given 0.5-1 kg 2,4-D, 2.2-4.4 l Banvel-D [dicamba]/a.i. and 1-2 kg atrazine a.i./ha applied immediately, 1 or 2 weeks before sowing. Crop tolerance in terms of germination rate and percentage was the highest in cv. CSH-1 to atrazine and in cv. D-340 to 2,4-D; other cultivars were less selective. The germination was higher with lower than with higher rates of herbicides and when each herbicide was applied 2 weeks before sowing than when applied on other dates
