Abstract

Sorghum cv. CSH-5 and CSV-4 were harvested at 5-day intervals between 75 and 105 days after sowing (DAS). The values for wt. of fresh panicle, wt. of 1000 fresh and dry grains and their volumes increased with delay in harvesting up to 90 DAS. Grain m.c. decreased and grain protein and carbohydrate contents increased with delay in harvesting up to 95 DAS. It was suggested that delay in harvesting the 2 cultivars beyond 90 DAS would not increase their yields and quality, but would enable the succeeding crop to be sown about 10 days earlier
