Abstract
In trials with rice, application of 25 kg N/ha as sulphur-coated urea at transplanting plus 25 kg N/ha as ordinary urea as a top-dressing or 100 kg N as ordinary urea/ha in 3 split dressings (50% at transplanting + 50% in 2 equal top-dressings at tillering and panicle-initiation) gave similar paddy yields (4.98-5.03 t/ha). In trials with sorghum, application of 100 kg N/ha as ordinary urea in 2 split dressings or as urea coated with neem (Azadirachta indica) cake in a single dressing at sowing gave similar grain yields
