Abstract

The new cropping strategy under dryland conditions based on intercropping is described. The more profitable intercropping systems were: sorghum/pigeon pea, sorghum/soyabeans, sorghum/groundnuts, groundnuts/sorghum, groundnuts/pigeon pea, groundnuts/soyabeans, castor/sorghum and castor/pigeon pea. Information on sowing patterns, i.e. paired versus uniform sowing, is given
