Abstract

DOUBLE-CROPPING is now an integral part of southrrn Illinois agriculture. After one crop is harvested a second one is planted in the same field and harvested in the same year. Generally the first crop is a small grain and and the second crop is soybeans, corn, or sorghum. Success of the practice varies from year to year, usually depending on the amount of available moisture when the second crop is planted...
