Abstract

When ten varieties were grown in plots using two row and two within-row spacings, the highest yields were given by all varieties at a spacing of 30 X 7.5 cm (row X within row) and CSH1 gave the highest average yield, followed by M5/10-10-2-1. Plant height, number of days to 50% panicle emergence and 100-grain weight were not affected by the different spacings at which plants were grown
