Abstract
In trials in 1974, sorghum cv. Oro sown in lysimeters was flooded (a) at the early vegetative, (b) early boot or (c) heading stages or was not flooded (control). Grain yield of treatments (a) and (b) was respectively reduced by 30 and 26% compared with the control (10.98 t/ha), though (c) was not significantly different from the control. Plant DM yields were affected similarly to the grain yields. It was concluded that inundation may cause further yield reduction by physical damage to the crop such as lodging and by increased time to maturity
