Abstract

Growth of tobacco cv. Xanthi-nc and sweet corn cv. Golden Bantam was retarded while no effect was noted on Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Greenpool and sorghum cv. Rio when a 1 X 10-4M emulsion of camptothecin, identified as a phytochemically active component of Camptotheca acuminata was applied as a spray. Growth inhibition appeared to be confined to the meristematic portions of the test plants
