Abstract
Previous studies with seven cultivars belonging to the races Bicolor, Caudatum, Durra, Guinea and Kafir indicated that electrophoresis of grain proteins is a valuable method in systematic studies of sorghum [See PBA 45, 7300]. The water-soluble grain proteins of 20 African cultivars belonging to the above five races from geograpically and ecologically diverse habitats were analysed. Each cultivar produced a highly reproducible pattern of acidic proteins. Cultivars belonging to the same race produced identical or nearly identical electrophoretic patterns. Consistent differences were detected among races
