Abstract

DM accumulation and distribution and its relation to grain yield were studied in 4 sorghum genotypes (hybrids CSH-1, Kovilpatti tall (MS 2219A X IS 3541), Swarna and local Neerjola) at Bangalore during the summer and monsoon seasons of 1969. DM accumulated at a faster rate and was more efficiently converted into grain during the summer season, although the final DM and grain yield were higher in the monsoon season as a result of longer crop duration. Rate of DM production, total DM accumulation and ear growth were highest in cv. Kovilpatti tall
