Abstract

In hays made from (a) S. humilis at 3 sites, (b) sorghum x Sudan grass hybrid cv. Zulu, and (c) Dolichos lablab [Lablab niger], cut at various stages, the CP content of the DM was > 9% except in hay made from (a) on 16 May at one site. The OM digest1bility was > 60% in hay made from (b) cut 50-70 days after sowing, but in hay from (c), OM digest1bility decreased from 61.3% to 48.3% with increase in maturity at time of cutting (77-140 days after sowing). In hays made from (a), OM digest1bility decreased with delay in cutting and varied from 73.1% to 39.7%.-A.C.T.
