Abstract
Leaves of P. typhoides cv. A1/3 and S530 and jowar cv. JS263 and JS20 were collected at 10-day intervals from 30 days after sowing until maturity (120 days). The contents of total water-soluble carbohydrates and sugars were higher at the early growth stages than at maturity and content of non-reducing sugars was always lower than that of the reducing sugars. Cellulose and total mineral contents increased and CP content decreased with increase in the age of plants. Upper leaves always contained more CP than lower leaves
