Abstract

Cows of average weight 370 kg in 3 groups of 4 were given 10 kg hybrid Napier grass with 13.4% crude protein, Guinea grass with 9.9% or green jowar with 4.8% in oven-dry material. The remaining protein and energy requirements were provided by concentrates and hay. Average yields of fat-corrected milk (FCM) in the respective groups at the start were 6.3, 5.8 and 5.9 kg. Yields were 211, 213 and 235 kg milk and 318, 305 and 298 kg FCM during the experiment [duration not given].-P. M. H.
