Note on lipids in sorghum

Abstract

The neutral lipids of 2 improved strains of sorghum, JS 75/53 and JS 2/53, were examined. The respective strains contained free and bound lipid 4.05 and 0.56% and 3.56 and 0.48%. The neutral lipids, both free and bound, were made up of partial glycerides, free sterols, pigments, free fatty acids, triglycerides, sterol esters plus hydrocarbons and an unidentified component. Triglyceride was the main component and bound lipids had a high free fatty acid content
