Abstract

Sorghum leaf blades and sheaths had considerable amounts of cuticular wax in contrast with maize, which was almost waxless. Free n-alkanoic acids absent in maize were the largest constituents of sorghum waxes. The other constituents were n-alkanes, esters, aldehydes and alcohols
