Abstract

There was an increase in total grain yield, land-equivalent ratio and net profit by intercropping Vigna radiata and groundnut in rice and finger millet compared with sole cropping of rice in normal yr. Even in a drought yr (1979), intercropping legumes with finger millet or sole cropping of finger millet was distinctly advantageous, whereas sole cropping of rice virtually failed. Performance of the winter-season crops grown on residual moisture was in the order safflower > Vigna mungo > lentil > Brassica juncea > niger
