Abstract

Na, K, Ca, and Mg accumulated in all parts of downy mildew-affected sorghum, compared to healthy plants. It is suggested that the typical chlorotic symptom of downy mildew-affected plants may be due to the high Na + K/Ca + Mg ratio and the low Ca/K ratio. An increase in exchangeable cation was observed in the soil around the roots of the downy mildew-affected plants. This may be due to the increased secretion of organic acids by diseased roots
