Abstract
When five varieties were given 0, 75 and 150 kg N/ha in a randomized block design, (1) Rio and Co11 gave the highest yields of green and dry matter, possibly as a result of their longer growth period; (2) Rio, Co11 and SL44 showed increased height; and (3) IS6090, with the lowest yield, had the highest crude-protein content, while Rio had the lowest content, showing the existence of an inverse relationship between dry-matter yield and crude-protein content
