Abstract

Eight characters were studied in the parents and F1 of a 10 X 10 diallel cross. All characters were positively correlated with both green and dry matter yield. Leaf breadth showed a high positive effect on both green and dry-matter yield. The data indicate that a sorghum ideotype should have a high leaf/stem ratio, a high number of broad and long leaves per plant, an intermediate flowering date, a medium-thick stem and moderate plant heights
