Abstract
In trials with 3 Sudan grass and 3 sorghum cultivars in 1972-3, Sudan grass cv. S.S.G. 59-3 gave the highest average yields of 56.88 t fresh fodder and 12.97 t DM/ha in the 1st cut and 28.25 and 5.75 t/ha, respectively, in the regrowth. Higher fresh fodder yields were obtained in the 1st cut taken 55 days after sowing than when taken 40 or 70 days after sowing, but DM yields were higher when the 1st cut was taken 70 days after sowing. Yields in regrowth were higher when cut at 40-day intervals than at 20- or 30-day intervals
