Abstract

In trials at Hofuf, Saudi Arabia, barley for fodder sown in winter, followed in summer by fodder sorghum cut twice, yielded a total of over 32 t DM/ha in a year. Although there were marked responses to applied N, these were not significant possibly because of variation and/or chlorosis in the sorghum. N improved protein contents and sorghum had carbohydrate contents 2.5-5 times those recorded for Rhodes grass and lucerne
