Abstract

Application of 1 kg alachlor a.i./ha to sorghum/cowpeas/ Lablab niger [L. purpureus] and maize/ cowpeas/L. niger mixtures decreased weed populations by 85% and had no adverse effect on germination and growth of the mixed crops. Application of atrazine, nitrofen, EPTC and simazine was toxic to one or other crop in the mixtures
