Abstract
Sorghum cv. CSH-1 was given various plant protection treatments and (a) 125 kg N + 75 kg P2O5 + 37.5 kg K2O/ha, (b) 94 kg N + 56 kg P2O5 + 28 kg K2O/ha or (c) 62.5 kg N + 37.5 kg P2O5 + 19 kg K2O/ha. Grain yields averaged 4.67, 4.53 and 3.97 t/ha for (a), (b) and (c), respectively and were highest (average 4.65 t/ha) when treated seed was used, 40 kg thimet [phorate]/ha was applied in the furrow at sowing, 18 ml Folido [parathion] + 40 g Unizeb/18 l water was applied 15 days after sowing, 45 ml endrin + 40 g zineb/18 l water 15 and 30 days later and 50% carbaryl at 115 g/18 l water was applied to control ear head bug. Reductions in yields due to lack of plant protection measures were significant at the recommended fertilizer level; at the recommended plant protection level, yields were increased significantly by increased fertilizer level
