Abstract

An experiment was conducted on the uptake of N by sorghum hybrid CSH-4 under rainfed conditions in rabi season in the year 1970-71 and 1971-72 at the Sorghum Research Station, Parbhani. From the results obtained in the experiment it was observed that most of the uptake of nitrogen is upto flowering stage. Leaf contributes more nitrogen than stem and ear upto flowering but afterwards it diverts towards the development of reproductive parts. Nitrogen uptake per plant is less under higher plant density. Uptake of nitrogen varies year to year according to seasonal conditions
