Abstract
The increase in seed yield of mung bean [Vigna radiata] resulting from a delay of 14 and 28 days in intercropping pearl millet between the rows was 31-41 and 63%, resp., compared with simultaneous sowing of both crops. Intercropping pearl millet by transplanting its seedlings, compared with direct sowing, decreased the V. radiata yields by 23-32%. Intercropping pearl millet in triple rows 30 cm apart in an interspace of 90 cm between 2 rows of V. radiata increased the V. radiata yields by 13-16% compared with intercropping in paired rows 30 cm apart in an interspace of 70 cm. Total yields of all the intercropping systems were higher than for pearl millet in pure stands
