Abstract
Fourteen sorghum strains and hybrids were grown for two rabi seasons on a soil containing 39% sand, 10% silt and 50% clay with a pH of 9.04 and 17.3% sodium saturation. The strain 1-138-1-12 gave the highest grain yield (11.77 q/ha) and 5-4-1 (Muguti Jola), M 75-1 and M 35-1 gave yields of approximately 9.25 q/ha. The hybrids IS 84 and CSH 2 failed completely
