Abstract
The extraction of inbred lines from elite material and the formation of three-way and double cross hybrids is a method which has not much followed recently by breeders in East and Central Africa. In order to assess the usefulness of this method within the overall Kenya maize breeding programme, the Kenya Seed Company has extracted inbred lines from currently available elite material and produced a series of three-way hybrids which appear to be of promise. However, problems of plant height remain unsolved and future work will be directed more in this direction
