Abstract
In trials in 2 seasons, sorghum hybrid CSH-1 and its parent cv. MSCK-60A and IS-84 gave average grain yields of 2.51, 1.27 and 1.12 t/ha, respectively. Higher yields in CSH-1 were ascribed to the higher values for weight and number of grains/panicle, panicle diameter, threshing percentage, DM distribution to panicle, LAI, leaf area duration, NAR, RGR and leaf chlorophyll content contributed by the female parent cv. MSCK-60A and to the 1000-grain weight, height, panicle length and DM production by the male parent cv. IS-84. The higher values for these yield components in the hybrid than in its parents were attributed to heterosis
