Abstract
Of three sorghum varieties grown at four levels of NPK, tall Mugati gave the highest yields (1578 kg/ha) at 50 : 30 : 20 kg NPK per ha followed by tall M35-1 (1476 kg/ha) grown at the same fertilizer level and dwarf R16 (1140 kg/ha) grown at 25 : 15 : 10. Mugati and M35-1 suffered 10-15% Atherigona damage while that in R16 was 30-50%. This last variety was also most susceptible to lodging
