Abstract

For a number of years the specirilens of Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam. from the Pacific slopes of Ecuador have been known to differ in sepal size from the cultivated strains of the species. There are other aspects of these plants that make them distinctive in the field, such as the fact that they are wild and weedy and tend to twine. This makes them unlike many sweet potato cultivars. Authors have used different names for these plants.
