Abstract
Front line demonstrations were conducted at 219 farmers' fields to demonstrate production
potential and economic benefits of improved technologies comprising high yielding Fusarium
wilt resistant and Helicoverpa tolerant varieties in Ranga Reddy district of southern Telangana
region of Andhra Pradesh during kharif seasons of 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 in rainfed
condition. The improved technologies recorded an additional yield ranging from 2.75 to 5.0 q/
ha with a mean of 3.84 q/ha. There was an increase of 50% (ICPL 332wr), 60.7% (Asha), 54% (ENT
11) during 2007-08; 46.4% (ENT 11), 50.0% (ICPL 332 wr), 36% (Asha) during 2008-09 and 57.1%
(Asha), 62.5% (ICPL 332 wr) in production of pigeonpea under improved technologies. The
improved technologies gave higher benefit cost ratio of 2.08 (Asha), 2.45 (ICPL 332 wr), 1.70
(ENT 11) during 2007-08 compared to 1.72, 1.54 and 1.39 under local check
