Abstract

In pot experiments testing different levels of N on the protein quality of sorghum grain, the optimum level of N for increasing crude and true protein was 150 kg/ha N. Lysine, leucine, methionine and tryptophan were generally increased by increasing levels of N. The increase in total protein due to N application was mainly associated with an increase in the prolamine fraction. It is concluded that N did not effectively improve the protein quality of sorghum grain.[317:224:819.3].
