Abstract

Nutritional and dietary surveys carried out in diferent parts of lndia have revealed that the diets consumed by the millions of people in the country are mainley deficient in proteins, minerals and vitamins. This has resulted in wide-spread protein-calorie malnutrition and other deficiency disorders like beriberi, scurvey, rickets and pellagra. The low income groups of the society have been the major victims of the hazard.
