Abstract
The sorghum midge is a serious pest of grain sorghums wherever these crops are grown in North America. The Insect was first discovered and described from North Amerca in the state of Alabama In 1895 It was apparently introduced into the southern United States in seed from southeast Asia some years prior to its discover it has spread until today it 1s endemic in all major sorghum growing areas of the U S By 1960 it was well established in the northern part of the state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. It is now reported as a serious pest in the region of Bahio, and in the states of Sonora and Sinaloa and is present in the sorghum growing areas of southern Mexico
