Abstract

The cytogenetics of Pennisetum americanum are reviewed under the following principal headings: (1) karyotypic analysis, (2) meiosis (in both P. typhoides [P. americanum] (2n = 2x = 14) and P. purpureum (2n = 28 or 56)), (3) abnormal meiosis and its genetics, (4) haploidy, (5) polyploidy, (6) aneuploids, (7) structural changes in chromosomes, (8) chromosomes, (9) floral biology and hybridization and (10) hybridization and chromosome relationships (including interspecific and intergeneric hybridization)
