Abstract

In field trials in 1967-8 in the Hereford area of Texas, Supracide [methidathion], disulfoton and carbophenothion, each at 0.5 lb a.i./ac, were the most effective treatments for control of Oligonychus pratensis in grain sorghum when applied at the early-soft-dough to hard-dough stages of plant growth. Yields were not significantly increased by mite control in these plots, but in plots treated with 0.5 lb parathion/ac applied to young sorghum, yields were increased. In trials in 1969-70 increasing tolerance to acaricides was observed in the mite population, although methidathion remained effective. Grain yields in sorghum and maize were increased where effective acaricides were aerially applied
