Abstract

Treatment with phorate applied to the soil at 3 kg/ha with farmyard manure and inorganic fertiliser against Atherigona soccata Rond. (varia soccata) attacking sorghum was evaluated in the field in Mysore, India, in 1968. For all treatments, there were fewer dead-hearts and the plants were taller than for no treatment. For phorate alone, phorate with manure, phorate with inorganic fertiliser and phorate with both, the seed yield averaged 0.35, 0.41, 1.60 and 1.79 kg/plot (measuring 2.75 X 3 m), as compared with 0.10 kg/plot for no treatment
