Abstract

A new organophosphorus insecticide developed by Shell International Chemical Company Lte, Shell Centre, London S. E.1, was supplied by the firm for trial against sorghum shoot fly, Atherigona varia soccata (Rond) on hybrid sorghum CSH-I. The trade name of the product is Birlane. The composition of commerical product is 89 percent transisomer. It was supplied in the form of 10 percent granules for this trial. It is a contact insecticide which kills insect by inhibiting cholinesterase. Its effectiveness was studied with some other insecticides
