Abstract

The efficacy of phorate granules at 1.5 kg a.i./ha applied to the furrows at sowing and of 8 other insecticides applied in 4 foliar sprays at 7-day intervals beginning 6 days after sowing for the control of shoot fly on sorghum was compared. Phorate gave the best control of shoot fly and resulted in grain yields of 7.44 t/ha, compared with 6.48 and 6.01 t/ha on plots given lindane and endosulfan, respectively, and 3.77 t/ha on those given no insecticide
