Abstract
The reproduction on, and damage to, seedlings of several varieties of sorghum by a strain of Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch) reared in the laboratory in Kansas from a single alate collected from sorghum of the variety R.S. 671 near Manhattan in September 1971 was investigated in the laboratory. As the strain proved able to attack varieties previously considered resistant and to reproduce well at high temperatures, it was given the status of a new biotype (KS-5) [cf. RAE/A 51, P.297]
