Abstract

Experiments in 1973-76 showed that the predominant weeds in pearl millet [Pennisetum americanum] were Trianthema monogyna, Echinochloa crus-galli, Commelina benghalensis, Cyperus rotundus, Cynodon dactylon and Phyllanthus niruri. Atrazine at 1 kg/ha pre-em. reduced the dry weight of weeds at harvest by 67%, increased the grain yield by 103% and increased the net return by Rs 1205/ha. Hand weeding increased the yield by 95%
