Abstract

In field trials atrazine at 1 kg/ha pre-em. effectively controlled weeds and gave the highest d.m. yield of sorghum (6440 kg/ha compared with 3250 kg for a control). Pre-sowing and pre-em. application of atrazine at 2 kg reduced the yield by 13.4 and 28.5%, respectively, as compared with 1 kg. Atrazine at 1 kg/ha did not affect a following crop of fodder oats whereas 2 kg decreased the oat yield. The economics of the treatments are discussed.
