Abstract

Interplanting of different crops for silage has been suggested as a means of improving production. Maintaining production in the event of environmental stress to one of the crops. and improving silage quality. Ncven5 and Kendilll (5) showed little overall advantage for interplanting of soybeans in the row with sorgo or corn in Illinois. Yields were similar in a season with good rainfall. whereas interplanting soybeans tended to depress total yields in ;I season with limited rainfall. Ellington (3 suggested that on droughty soil5 in Maryland, a mixture of sorghum and soybeans instead of corn for silage would increase production and silage quality. Samples from several farm silos........
