Abstract
In trials in the kharif [monsoon] seasons of 1970-1 with bajra [Pennisetum americanum] hybrid HB-4 grown on sandy loam soil and given 0-180 kg N, 0-120 kg P2O5 and 0-120 kg K2O/ha, grain and stover yields were increased with 120 kg N and 60 kg P2O5/ha; the opt. economic fertilizer rate was 106.2 kg N and 54 kg P2O5/ha. Crops showed no response to applied K. Grain CP content increased with increasing N rates and with 60 kg P2O5/ha; K had no effect. Increase in rates of N and P increased uptake of N, P and K; applied K increased K uptake only
