Abstract
Treatment that received water between July 26 and August 16 produced the highest yields in this experiment. The average yield for these plots was 112 bushels per acre compared to a yield of 87 bushels per acre for treatments that did not get water during this critical period. Although the 3-week interval irrigation produced the highest grain sorghum yield (122 bulacre), one irrigation on August 9 yielded a very respectable 108 bulacre. Apparently irrigation timing is just as important as frequency of irrigation for the production of grain sorghum.
