Abstract

One hundred eighty pounds of nitrogen and 4 inseason irrigations (20 inches of water) was the most profitable treatment for grain sorghum production. The highest water application efficiency occurred with the least amount of applied water. Twentyfive buehels of grain sorghum/gprn of water pumped (1000 gpm well = 25,000 bushels of grain eorghum) is a reasonable yield goal for irrigators in the Southern Colorado High Plains when preeeaeon or planting time imgation is practiced
